Protests do happen for numerous reasons around the globe ranging from simple tax-cut petitions to anti-government pleas. But not always do people get what they desire. Iran is deemed as one of the few places in today's world where basic social requirements get a negative, brutal response from pro-government military forces. Since 1978's Islamic revolution in Iran which resulted in the then Kingdom's fall and emergence of the so-called Islamic Republic order, which has been ruling the country eversince.
The unquestioned Republic first felt a benign quake in its system in 1999 cause by student movements in opposition to the closure of a newspaper popular at the time. As long as the country's internet and mobile system was still in its first steps to become nationalized, the movement was oppressed by the govenments riot police forces in a few days. Some of he detainees charged with 99's riots are still being held in the state prison under savage conditions.
Now, after ten years a number of ,more potent, mass protests have once again erupted amid the claims that the presidential election is biased and should be dissapproved of. But this time, pro-govenrnment military forces are having a hard time in retaining control over the major cities', whose streets are crowded with people in thousands who express their dissatisfaction with the election results.
With the escalation of the national crisis and the number of the dead on the rise during the first three days of the post-election protests, people seemed more determined than ever to voice their pro-democracy cries. The governmet ,stuck in a predicament in foreign lands pressurized by the european union refusing to re-issue the Iranian diplomats visas, is still holding to its stance on the election results firmly. During the firday prayer in the cities oldest university the Supreme Leader took an angry approch towards those, who he claims have contravened the law by showing no regard for the civil laws and filling the streets.
On the other end of the stick some of the religious leaders have stated their disapproval of the election results and have called for government institutions to call the election biased. Also, with the show of anger from people, anti-government TV channels outside the country have been updating the news daily.
Also the media with the backing of other international institutes and websites ,concerned with Iran's green movement for democracy , has announced a world wide rally in support of the Iranian people on July, 25. As to what the reactions to this rally are in Iran , it suffices to say that people have already started spreading the word through internet blogs and websites. The rally's route is supposed to cover all major squares of Tehran.
All these considered, Iran is the one country, which has been looked at by the world powers as a menace. whether these rallies and the likes around the around the world come to a happy ending is a vague question regarding the governments stance during these days.
